  • Why does a bioethanol fireplace not require a chimney?

Bioethanol fireplaces do not require a chimney because they burn clean and produce minimal emissions. Unlike traditional wood-burning fireplaces, bioethanol fireplaces utilize a fuel source that is clean-burning and produces mainly water vapor and carbon dioxide as byproducts. This clean combustion eliminates the need for a chimney to vent out harmful gases or smoke. Additionally, bioethanol fireplaces are designed to be highly efficient, ensuring that the heat generated is effectively distributed into the room. This makes them a convenient and versatile heating option, as they can be easily installed in various locations within your home without the need for complex venting systems.
  • Does a bioethanol fireplace produce heat?

A biofireplace is mainly intended as an ambiance fireplace, but it certainly provides heat in the meantime. On average, the BIO-O! fireplace system has an output of 3.5 kW. This corresponds to a normal radiator of 120cm by 90cm. It is therefore also ideal for a well-insulated or Nearly zero-energy (NZE) house.
  • Is a bioethanol fireplace safe?

It is not surprising that this question is asked. The first-generation biofires, known as pots and trays, are indeed not completely safe. When the appliance was refilled into a hot burner, a large stinging flame could break out, causing dangerous situations. In contrast, automatic systems are completely safe. Furo specifically set out to design a 100% safe system. First of all, the bioethanol reservoir is completely seperated from the burner. As a result, only about three centilitres are effectively burned each time. In addition, the system is continuously monitored via numerous sensors by the computer-controlled programme. If abnormalities are measured, the bioethanol burner will automatically go into error and extinguish itself.
  • What is being released into the air when burning bioethanol?

The combustion of bioethanol releases water vapour and CO2. This is exactly the same as what people exhale. You can compare this as if there were some additional people in the room. So it is key to always provide sufficient ventilation.
  • Is a bioethanol fireplace expensive?

Compared to the purchase and installation of a gas fireplace, a bioethanol fireplace offers a cost-effective alternative. With a bioethanol fireplace, there is no need to install a gas outlet, which can significantly reduce installation costs. You only need to consider the cost of the fireplace appliance itself, which is comparable to the cost of a gas fireplace appliance. Additionally, it's important to note that there are different types of biofires in the market. Furo biofires, for example, are automatic and start at a price range of €2,200 excluding VAT. These automatic biofires offer convenience and advanced features, making them a valuable investment for your home.
  • Is bioethanol expensive?

One litre of good quality bioethanol typically costs around €3,60. With an efficient burning system like the Furo biofires, you can expect one litre of bioethanol to burn for an average of 2 hours. When comparing the overall cost of different types of fireplaces, it's important to factor in not only the fuel consumption but also installation costs. When comparing the cost of a bio-ethanol fireplace to that of a gas fireplace, it is often found that a biofire is the more economical option. It's worth noting that combined with the convenience and eco-friendliness it offers, biofires make an attractive choice for many homeowners.
  • Do bioethanol fireplaces smell?

Bio-ethanol fireplaces, when operated properly, do not produce strong or unpleasant odors. The quality of the bioethanol fuel used plays a significant role in determining whether there will be any noticeable smell. It is essential to use high-quality bioethanol (+/- 96% purity) to ensure a clean and odorless burn. Additionally, the design and construction of the fireplace can influence odor production. The Furo bioethanol fireplaces, for instance, have been engineered to promote clean combustion, preventing the release of unpleasant odors. With proper fuel and a well-designed fireplace, you can enjoy the beauty and warmth of a bio-ethanol fireplace without worrying about smell.
  • How much bioethanol does a fireplace consume?

A bioethanol fireplace's fuel consumption can vary depending on factors such as the size of the flame, the duration of use, and the specific model of the fireplace. At Furo, our fireplaces are carefully crafted to optimize fuel consumption, ensuring a beautiful flame that burns at the perfect level. By striking the right balance between aesthetics and efficiency, our fireplaces consume approximately half a liter of bioethanol fuel per hour. Our BIO-O! fire series is meticulously crafted with a focus on fuel efficiency and extended burning times. With a 10-liter separated reservoir, our fireplaces allow you to enjoy up to 20 hours of continuous burning without the need for frequent refilling. When selecting a fireplace, it's crucial to consider the size of your room and choose the appropriate fuel consumption for optimal performance and a healthy atmosphere. Keep in mind that burning bioethanol consumes oxygen, so proper ventilation is essential for maintaining air quality. At Furo, we are committed to honesty and transparency, and we encourage you to be conscious of your fireplace fuel consumption. Rather than being solely attracted to large flames, it's important to choose a fireplace that suits your space and needs. By promoting a safe and healthy atmosphere, we prioritize the well-being of our customers.
  • What is bioethanol?

Bioethanol is a form of alcohol derived from biomass. It is produced through the fermentation of sugars extracted from natural sources such as plants, algae, or surplus wine. The prefix "bio" is added to highlight its environmentally friendly production process. In addition, bioethanol is considered a carbon-neutral fuel since its combustion emits the same amount of CO2 that the plant absorbed during its growth phase. As an alternative to fossil fuels derived from petroleum, bioethanol is widely regarded as a more ecologically responsible choice.
